Prime Minister General Soe Win and party visit Guilin

Nay Pyi Taw, 5 Nov — The Myanmar delegation led by Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar General Soe Win left Nanning for Guilin by special flight of China Southern Airlines at 9 am on 1 November. The Prime Minister and party were seen off at the Nanning International Airport by traditional cultural troupe and officials of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Prime Minister General Soe Win and party together with Vice-Governor Mr Zhang Wenxue, Deputy Head of Foreign Affairs Mr Zeng Xiaohua and officials of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region arrived at Guilin Liangjiang International Airport at 9:30 am. They were welcomed at the airport by Guilin Mayor Mr Zhang Xiulong, Secretary Mr Jiang Bin Sui and officials and a child presented a bouquet to the Prime Minister.

Next, the Prime Minister and party proceeded to Zhujiang Port in a motorcade. He viewed the environs along the Lijiang river, a landmark of the tourism industry of Guilin, on board the water craft. At Yang Shuo, they posed for a documentary photo.

They proceeded to Xiang Bi Shan elephant-shaped hill and viewed the environs. They also visited Reed Flute Cave in Lu Di Yan and viewed the wonders of nature in different shapes and forms in the spacious cave. The Prime Minister signed in the visitors’ book. After that, the Prime Minister and party viewed the development of Guilin in a motorcade and arrived back at Ronghu Lake Hotel.

In the evening, Guilin Mayor Mr Zhang Xiulong called on the Prime Minister at the hall of Ronghu Lake Hotel. Present at the call were members of Myanmar delegation, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Guan Mu, Vice-Governor Mr Zhang Wenxue and officials of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. They held discussions on prospects of economic cooperation between Myanmar and Guilin and exchanged gifts. Later, the Mayor hosted a dinner in honour of the Prime Minister and party at Ronghu Lake Hotel.

Myanmar delegation on tour of Wuhan, Hubei Province

Nay Pyi Taw, 5 Nov — Prime Minister General Soe Win and party arrived in Wuhan, Hubei Province at 10:15 am on 2 November.

They were welcomed by Vice-Governor of Hubei Province Mr Li Chunming and officials.

The Prime Minister and party cordially greeted the welcoming party and proceeded to Shangri-La Hotel.

At 2:30 pm, the Prime Minister and party visited Dongfeng Motor Corporation Headquarters in Wuhan.

General Manager Mr Liu Zhangmin reported on the establishment of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, efforts, joint venture with foreign motor companies and manufacture of motor vehicles. He presented a model of a truck to the Prime Minister.

Next, the Prime Minister presented souvenirs to him and signed in the visitor’s book. The Prime Minister and party had photos taken.

The Prime Minister and party proceeded to Dongfeng Peugeot Citroem Automobile Co Ltd and observed the assembly lines and light trucks of the company.

Prime Minister and party had photos taken together with company officials.

The Prime Minister and party went to Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone where Vice-Governor of Hubei Province Mr Li Chunming reported on the zone.

Deputy General Director of Zone Management Committee Mr Li Zhoging reported on the history of the zone, endeavours for development of the zone step by step, encouragement of central government and state government and investment opportunities in the zone.

The Prime Minister and ministers inquired about the prescription of special economic zone law, management system of the zone, local and foreign investments, responsibilities and privileges of companies and others. Officials concerned replied to the queries.

The Prime Minister and officials exchanged gifts. The Prime Minister and party went to Proview Technology (Wuhan) Co where they were conducted round the production of modern computers and TV sets by officials.

At 6 pm, the Prime Minister and party met Governor of Hubei Province Mr Luo Qingquan at East Lake Hotel.

Present on the occasion together with the Prime Minister were the ministers and departmental officials of Myanmar and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Guan Mu, Vice-Governor of Hubei Province Mr Li Chunming, General Secretary of Hubei Province Government Mr Duan Lunyi, Deputy General Secretary Mr Wang Guoyao, Mayor of Wuhan Mr Li Xiansheng and officials.

They discussed establishment of special economic development zones, industrial, economic and technological development zones, co-operation and promotion of trade with Hubei Pro-vince.

The Governor of Hubei Province hosted dinner in honour of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister and party went to the beach of Yangtze River and visited the beach garden.

The Prime Minister and party arrived back at Shangri-La Hotel. On 3 November, the Prime Minister and party went to Wuhan Iron and Steel Group Co. Chairman of the company reported on the history of the company and quality products of iron and steel. The Prime Minister explained about rich natural resources and iron, mineral deposits and investment opportunities in Myanmar.

The Prime Minister and the chairman exchanged gifts. Production of iron and steel products was shown through the video.

The Prime Minister and party observed scale models of the factories and documentary photos.

They also observed samples of motor vehicles, containers, bridges, oil pipes and raw materials and production process. The Prime Minister signed in the visitor’s book and had photos taken.

The Prime Minister and party went to Central China Power Grid Co. Chairman of the company Mr Xie Ming Liang reported on power supply, generation of power and cooperation with international companies.

Prime Minister General Soe Win said generation of power and distribution is undertaken by two ministries in Myanmar. Investment, technological assistance and cooperation are needed to expedite its momentum.

He said Central China Power Grid Co can promote its cooperation in hydro-electric power projects and power distribution in Myanmar.

The Prime Minister and the Chairman of the company exchanged gifts.

The Prime Minister and party were conducted round the central control unit and its functions.

They went to Wuhan International Airport. Vice-Governor of Hubei Province Mr Li Chunming presented an album of documentary photos of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister and party greeted Mr Li Chunming, Chinese Ambassador Mr Guan Mu and officials.

They arrived back here in the evening.

General Soe Win calls for enhanced Myanmar-PRC cooperation in banking services

Nay Pyi Taw, 5 Nov — Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar General Soe Win received President of China Development Bank Mr Chen Yuan at No 8 Guest House of Liyuan Hotel in Nanning on 31 October evening.

Also present at the call were Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyan Win, Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Minister for National Planning and Economic Development U Soe Tha, Minister for Energy Brig-Gen Lun Thi, Myanmar Ambassador to China U Thein Lwin, Director-General Col Kyaw Kyaw Win of the State Peace and Development Council Office, Director-General U Kyaw Kyaw of Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director-General U Aung Bwa of ASEAN Affairs Department.

The President of China Development Bank and party were accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Guan Mu.

The President of China Development Bank explained that as the China Development Bank of the People’s Republic of China and Myanma Foreign Trade Bank of Myanmar had signed the bilateral cooperation agreement, banking services will be promoted between the two banks, and services of both banks will be extended.

The Prime Minister said that the trade sector between Myanmar and China is developing, and they cooperate in setting up construction of infrastructures and factories in Myanmar. The Prime Minister urged them to carry out cooperation in banking services between both governments, both people, and the departments concerned and people.

On 29 October afternoon, Prime Minister General Soe Win separately received Managing Director Mr Huang Guang Ming and party of Yunnan United Power Development Co, and Chairman Mr Yang Jixue of China Gezhouba (Group) Corporation at No 8 Guest House of Liyuan Hotel in Nanning.

On 30 October morning, the Prime Minister met with Vice-President Mme Zhang Xiaolu and party of China Power Investment Corporation at the same venue.

On 1 November morning, General Soe Win received Chairman Mr Hou Weigui and party of ZTE Corporation at Liyuan Hotel.

Also present at the calls were the ministers, the Chinese Ambassador, the Director-General of the SPDC Office and officials.

They discussed mutual cooperation between peoples and companies of both countries, ways to enhance cooperation in investment and technology sectors, sector-wise achievements in bilateral cooperation, and prospects of economic cooperation between Myanmar and China.

On 31 October afternoon, the President of China Development Bank called on Prime Minister General Soe Win at Liyuan Hotel. At the meeting hall, the ceremony to sign the agreement on bilateral cooperation between Myanma Foreign Trade Bank of the Union of Myanmar and China Development Bank of China was held.

Present on the occasion were Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyan Win, Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Minister for National Planning and Economic Development U Soe Tha, Minister for Energy Brig-Gen Lun Thi, Myanmar Ambassador to China U Thein Lwin and departmental heads, Chinese Ambassador Mr Guan Mu, President of China Development Bank Mr Chen Yuan and officials.

At the ceremony, Managing Director U Than Yi of MFTB and President of China Development Bank Mr Chen Yuan signed the agreement and exchanged notes.

Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Saw Lwin received Vice-Chairman Mr Shu Shi An of China IPPR International Engineering Corporation of China at Wharton International Hotel in Nanning on 30 October morning.

They held discussions on construction of the Technical School in Mandalay and curriculum for the school.

The minister also received Chairman of XJ Group Corporation Mr Wang Jinian and party at the same venue. They discussed construction of the Multipurpose Diesel Engine Factory and timely completion of it.

The minister received Chairman of China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation Mr Tang Yi and party. They discussed construction of the Hydro-turbine and Generator Factory in Thagara of Bago Division.

Likewise, Vice-Chairman Mr Wang Bo and party of China CAMC Engineering Co Ltd called on Minister Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, and they discussed construction of the Radiator Factory.

The Vice-Chairman and party of Shaandong Shantui Construction Machinery Import & Export Co Ltd called on Minister Maj-Gen Saw Lwin and discussed construction of the Bulldozer and Excavator Factory.

On 1 November evening, Minister Maj-Gen Saw Lwin received Vice-Chairman Mr Shou Jingsong and party of Beijing Vantoni Industry and Trade at Ronghu Lake Hotel in Guilin. They held the meeting on systematic installation of multipurpose engines at vehicles.

At the same venue, the Minister received Director Mr Tao Yong and party of Shenzhen Hubei Baofeng Industry Co Ltd, and they discussed construction of the Radiator Factory near Bilin.

Likewise, Minister for National Planning and Economic Development U Soe Tha and Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Tin Naing Thein together with Economic Ministers of ASEAN countries attended a luncheon hosted by Chinese Commerce Minister Mr Bo Xilai at Green Mountain Park in Nanning on 31 October.

On 29 October evening, Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Tin Naing Thein received the Vice-Mayor of Nanning City and the Deputy Executive Secretary-General of China-ASEAN Economic Council at Wharton International Hotel in Nanning.

Also present at the call was Myanmar Ambassador U Thein Lwin. They discussed cooperation in trade and investment matters, and participation of Myanmar in China-ASEAN International Economic Zone in Nanning.

After the call, the Deputy Executive Secretary-General of China-ASEAN Economic Council met with Vice-President of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry U Zaw Min Win and CEC member U Tun Aung.

Minister for Energy Brig-Gen Lun Thi received Vice-Chairman Mr Liao Yongyuan and party of Petro China Co Ltd at No 8 Guest House of Liyuan Hotel in Nanning on 29 October afternoon. They discussed energy matters in detail.

Chairman Mr Wang Shihong of China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corporation called on Minister for Energy Brig-Gen Lun Thi at the same venue in the evening. They discussed construction of the fertilizer plant and purchase of drilling machine.

The minister also received Vice-Chairman Mr Song Yi Wu of China National Oilfield Development Corporation in the evening, and held discussions on exploration and production of oil and natural gas.

On 30 October afternoon, Minister Brig-Gen Lun Thi received Chairman of CNOOC Myanmar Limited Mr Xu Fa and discussed exploration of oil and natural gas in Yambye and Kyaukpyu Regions.

On 3 November, Minister Brig-Gen Lun Thi met with Chairman of SINOPEC Co Mr Lei Wenju and party at Shangri-la Hotel in Wuhan. They held the meeting on exploration of oil and natural gas in Kani-Mahutaung region.

Minister for Rail Transportation Maj-Gen Aung Min received Chairman Mr Feng Ke and party of Yunnan Machinery & Equipment Import and Export Co Ltd at Wharton International Hotel on 30 October morning.

They discussed matters related to enhancing the Myanma railways standard.

Minister Maj-Gen Aung Min also received Business General Manager Mr Huang Guo Yong and party of Kunming Railway at the same venue at 4 pm. They held discussions on assistance of machinery and technology to be provided to the Locomotive Construction Project of Myanma Railways.

Vice-Chairman Billy Guan and party of SD-MECO (Shandong) Co called on Minister Maj-Gen Aung Min and held discussions on spare parts to be provided for locomotives of Myanma Railways.

The minister also received Deputy General Manager Chen Dayong and party of China Northern Locomotive and Rolling Stock at Wharton International Hotel on 30 October morning. They discussed providing of technology for construction of locomotives and installation of engines.

Minister for Electric Power No 1 Col Zaw Min received Chairman Mr Feng Ke of Yunnan Machinery & Equipment Import and Export Co Ltd at Wharton International Hotel in Nanning on 29 October afternoon. They discussed matters related to Shweli (1), Upper Paunglaung, Nancho, Wetwun, Dattawgyaing and Zawgyi (1) hydel power plants.

At the same venue, the Minister received Chairman Mr Yang Jixue and party of China Gezhouba (Group) Corporation and discussed construction of RCC Dam at Yeywa Hydel Power Project and sending of contractor’s equipment.

Chairman Mme Jean Zhou and party of CITIC Technology Co Ltd called on the minister and held discussions on matters related to pen stock and tunnel lining of Yenwe Hydel Power Project and hydraulic steel structure of Yeywa Hydel Power Project.

Minister Col Zaw Min met with Chairman Mr Zhao Ruolin and party of China National Electric Equipment Corporation. They held a meeting on timely arrival of electronic and mechanical equipment for Yenwe, Yeywa, Khabaung and Kengtwang hydel power projects.

Vice-Chairman Zhu Xu and party of China National Heavy Machinery Corporation called on the minister and discussed timely sending of electronic and mechanical equipment and hydraulic steel structure for Kun Hydel Power Project and Khabaung Hydel Power Project, and sending of 230 kva transmission line and sub-station equipment by shipment to Yeywa Hydel Power Project in time.

Minister Col Zaw Min received Sinohydro Corporation Ltd Chairman Mr Huang Baodong and party. They discussed timely sending of hydraulic steel structure No 2, turbines and generators for Yeywa Hydel Power Project and matters related to Hatgyi Hydel Power Project.

Chairman of Yunnan United Power Development Co Ltd Mr Wang Wen and party called on Minister Col Zaw Min at Wharton International Hotel on 30 October. They discussed matters concerning Shweli No 1, Shweli No 2 and Shweli No 3 hydel power projects.

The minister also met with the Vice-Chairman of China Power Investment Cooperation and China CAMC Engineering Co Ltd. They held the meeting on survey and implementation of hydel power projects at the confluence of Ayeyawady, Maykha and Malikha rivers.

Prize presentation ceremony of 3rd Asian Archery Grand Prix 2006 held

Yangon, 5 Nov — The prize presentation ceremony of the 3rd Asian Archery Grand Prix-2006 hosted by Myanmar took place at Karaweik Palace this evening, attended by Chairman of Myanmar National Olympic Council Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Thein Sein. Present also were Lt-Gen Myint Swe of the Ministry of Defence, the General Secretary of Myanmar Olympic Committee and members, officials of the Ministry of Sports, Chairperson Daw Aye Aye of the central working committee of Myanmar Women’s Sports Federation and members, Vice-President Mr San Guan Kosanvinta of World Archery Federation, Vice-President Major (retd) Baharuddin Jamil of Asian Archery Federation, member of the Council of AAF Vice-President Dr Khin Shwe of SEA Archery Federation, judges, managers, coaches, athletes and guests.

Firstly, Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Thein Sein presented gold medal to Myanmar , silver medal to Malaysia and bronze medal to India in the men’s (Compound) FITA Round Team Ranking event, gold medal to India team, silver medal to China-Taipei team and bronze medal to India team in the men’s (Recurve) FITA Round Team Ranking event, gold medal to Malaysia , silver medal to Myanmar and bronze medal to the Philippines in the men’s (Compound) (Olympic Round) Team’s Knockout, and gold medal to India, silver medal to Malaysia and bronze medal to China-Taipei in the men’s (Recurve) (Olympic Round) Team’s Knockout.

Next, Lt-Gen Myint Swe awarded gold medal to Mr C C Sian from Malaysia, silver medal to Mr C W Kuo from China-Taipei and bronze medal to Zaw Win Htike from Myanmar in the men’s (Recurve) Single’s Knockout and gold medal to Mr K B J Yap from Philippines, silver medal to Mr L H Keong from Malaysia and bronze medal to Ye Min Swe from Myanmar in the men’s (Compound) Single’s Knockout. Chairperson Daw Aye Aye and officials also presented awards to winners in the respective events.

Later, General Secretary of MOC Director-General U Thaung Htaik of Sports and Physical Education Department presented gifts to the judges. Member of the Council of AAF Dr Khin Shwe spoke words of thanks and served those present a dinner.

Lt-Gen Kyaw Win goes on inspection tour of Muse 105th-mile border trade zone

Nay Pyi Taw, 4 Nov — Member of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Kyaw Win of the Ministry of Defence, during his recent tour of Muse 105th-mile border trade zone together with Chairman of Shan State (North) PDC Commander of North-East Command Brig-Gen Aung Than Htut and departmental heads of SPDC Office held a meeting with Chairman of Muse District PDC Lt-Col Soe Win, departmental officials at district and township levels and members of district and township Union Solidarity and Development Associations at Shweli Yadana Hall in Muse on 31 October.

First, Chairman of Muse District PDC Lt-Col Soe Win briefed Lt-Gen Kyaw Win on regional data while Brig-Gen Aung Than Htut gave supplementary reports.

During his meeting, Lt-Gen Kyaw Win gave a speech. Next, Lt-Gen Kyaw Win and party inspected import inspection department and customs department No 4 X-ray scanning unit at the 105th-mile border trade zone. Next, Deputy Director of Border Trade Department U Myint Kyaw conducted Lt-Gen Kyaw Win and party round the 105th-mile border trade zone.

At the meeting hall of Import Department, Lt-Gen Kyaw Win and party met with staff at the zone. Next, Deputy Director U Myint Kyaw briefed Lt-Gen Kyaw Win and party on accomplishment of the functions and Commander Brig-Gen Aung Than Htut gave a supplementary report. Afterwards, Lt-Gen Kyaw Win made a speech in his meeting.

Next, Lt-Gen Kyuw Win and party proceeded to Kutkai and held a meeting with departmental officials at township level and members of Kutkai Township USDA and gave necessary instructions.

Afterwards, Lt-Gen Kyaw Win and party viewed thriving paddy fields, physic nut plants and road sections on both sides of Kutkai-Lashio route. Later, Lt-Gen Kyaw Win and party oversaw poppy-substitute crops such as corn sugar cane, sunflower and pigeon pea and 500- acre bees breeding farm and storage of corn seeds in North-East Command.

Next, Lt-Col Nay Lin Aung and Commander Brig-Gen Aung Than Htut gave supplementary reports. Upon arrival at 100-acre model sugar cane plantation in Manmaw region, Lt-Gen Kyaw Win and party looked into thriving sugar cane and loading of them into the vehicles.

Afterwards, Lt-Gen Kyaw Win and party inspected 150,000 physic nut plants and 100-acre plantation of orange and pine apples mixed cropping from the observation tower. They were conducted round by Commander Brig-Gen Aung Than Htut and responsible personnel.

Next, Lt-Gen Kyaw Win and party looked into production process of bio-diesel and vehicle test run by bio-diesel. Afterwards, Lt-Gen Kyaw Win gave necessary instructions to responsible personnel and stopped over for one night in Lashio.

Ministry of Home Affairs holds first communal Kathina robes offering ceremony

Nay Pyi Taw, 5 Nov— Under the patronage of Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Maung Oo and wife Dr Daw Nyunt Nyunt Oo, the ministry held its first communal Kathina robes offering ceremony at MyoU Pariyatti Sarthintaik in Tatkon yesterday morning.

Present on the occasion were Chairman of Township Sangha Nayaka Committee Presiding Sayadaw Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhajha Bhadanta Narada and members of the Sangha, nuns, Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Maung Oo and wife Dr Daw Nyunt Nyunt Oo, Director-General of Myanmar Police Force Brig-Gen Khin Yi and wife Daw Khin May Soe, heads of the departments and units under the ministry, deputy directors-general and director and wives, staff families and guests.

First, the congregation opened the ceremony with three-time recitation of Namo Tassa and received the Five Precepts from the Sayadaw. Next, the minister and wife offered Kathina robes and alms to the Sayadaw and members of the Sangha and so did the director-general of MPF, departmental heads and staff families. Afterwards, the wife of the minister donated alms to nuns.

Next, the congregation shared merits gained and a day meal was offered to the Sayadaw and members of the Sangha.

Myanmar-Korea Forestry Cooperative Committee holds meeting

Nay Pyi Taw, 5 Nov— The fourth meeting of Myanmar-Korea Forestry Cooperative Committee took place at the Ministry of Forestry, here, on 3 November.

First, the five-member Korean delegation led by Director-General Mr Nam Sung-Hyun of Korea Forest Service Planning and Public Relations Bureau, the Republic of Korea, called on Minister for Forestry Brig-Gen Thein Aung.

The meeting focused on cooperation of the two countries in development of forests, human resource development and sharing technology, prospects for investment in wood-based industry and arid zone greening project.

NC delegates visit Kyaikkhauk Pagoda, attend service at Kachin Baptist Church

Yangon, 5 Nov—Under the arrangement of the Invitation and Accommodation Sub-committee, the delegates to the National Convention this morning visited the historic Kyaikkhauk Pagoda in Thanlyin Township, Yangon South District.

On arrival at the pagoda, the delegates were welcomed by Lt-Col Kyi Oo of Thanlyin Station and officials, the chairman of the Pagoda Board of Trustees and members.

The chairman of the Pagoda Board of Trustees explained the background history of the pagoda.

U Aye Kyaw, a delegate of national race group expressed thanks.

Next, the delegates donated K 136,845 towards the funds of the pagoda.

After that, the delegates proceeded to the Kyakan Dhammayon east of the pagoda where the ceremony to offer provisions to 264 members of the Sangha was held. At the ceremony, offertories and provisions worth K 15,310,240 were donated to members of the Sangha.

Likewise, Christi-anity delegates to the National Convention, accompanied by officials of the Invitation and Accommodation Sub-committee, this afternoon arrived at the Kachin Baptist Church in Sangyoung Township where they attended service.

Buddha Pujaniya of Shewzigon Pagoda in NyaungU

Yangon, 5 Nov—The 947th Buddha Pujaniya of historic Shewzigon Pagoda in NyaungU, Mandalay Division began on a grand scale on 28 October.

The collective donation of provisions to over 2,000 members of the Sangha by well-wishers from far and near, departmental personnel led by Chairman of NyaungU District Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Tayza, social organizations, the chairman of the Pagoda Board of Trustees and others was held at the pagoda on 4 November (the Fullmoon Day of Tazaungmon).

The Tazaungdaing Festival of the pagoda will continue until 19 November, and donations for all-round renovation of the pagoda may be made at the respective donation centres.

Football team of Pakistani Armed Forces arrives

Yangon, 5 Nov — A football team of the Armed Forces of Pakistan Islamic Republic led by Brigadier-General Muhammad Naseem Khan arrived here by air this afternoon to play friendly soccer match with the football team of Myanmar Tatmadaw.

The Pakistani football team was welcomed by Rector of Defence Services Medical Academy Brig-Gen Ya Pyae, senior military officers, Defence Attache Col Zafar Jamil and officials of the Pakistani Embassy.

New Generation Youth golf tournament on schedule

Yangon, 5 Nov — Under the supervision of Myanmar Golf Federation, the 4th New Generation Youth golf tournament, to be organized by Myanmar Golf Club, will be held at MGC’s 9th mile golf course on 15 and 16 November.

The tournament will be categorized as age-wise events ranging the boys’ 10-12, the boys’ 13-15 and the boys’ 16-20 and the girls’ 10-18 events. The handsome prizes will be presented to the winners.

The main sponsor is Han Golf Masters Pte Ltd, together with co-sponsors Srixon, Myanmar Golf Club Driving Range, Han Golf Masters Academy, Han Event Management, Golf Masters Magazine and Han Golf Course Design & Construction.

FMI Co holds annual general meeting

Yangon, 5 Nov — First Myanmar Investment Co, Ltd held the 14th Annual General Meeting at Myanmar Convention Centre in Mayangon Township this afternoon.

Members of the advisory board and executive directors of FMI Co, Ltd and CEO Mr Martin Pun of SPA (M) Ltd extended greetings. Next, Chairman of the advisory board meeting chairman Col Win Maung (Retd) delivered an opening speech. Chairman of FMI Co, Ltd Managing Agent U Thein Wai extended greetings and explained functions of the company. Afterwards, share holders and guests raised questions to which responsible persons replied and financial statement and annual report were submitted to the meeting.

Later, new executive directors and auditors were elected for 2006-2007 and the meeting chairman gave a concluding remark.
