YANGON, 6 Jan-Minister for Industry-1 U Aung Thaung, accompanied by departmental officials, visited Win Thuza Shop (Mayangon) in Mayangon Township this morning. The minister inspected the sales of products of the industries under the ministry and gave instructions on avoiding the shortage of items The minister also visited Win Thuza Shop near Khawechan bus-stop and instructed the officials to sell a wide range of items.

On his arrival at No 2 Soap Factory of Myanma Pharmaceutical Industries in Hline Township , the minister inspected the maintenance of machines and urged officials to carry out the maintenance tasks in time and fire preventive measures.

Yesterday, Myanmar War Veterans Organization Central Organizing Committee member Minister for Industry-1 U Aung Thaung visited No 2 War Veterans Village (Thebyu) in Hmawby Township . At the Dhamayon of the village, Head of MWVO Headquarters Lt-Col Win Maung (Retd) reported on land allotment for construction of low-cost houses, progress of construction and supply of electricity and water.

The minister gave necessary instructions and fulfilled the needs of 193 family members of the war veterans such as food, housing and clothing and job opportunities.
Next, he inspected progress in construction of Maha Zeya Theikdhi Aung Phonepwint Hmyawdawyaung Pagoda, the establishment of Thebyu Village and the welfare shop.

The minister and party then proceeded to Dagon Beverage and Ice Factory on U Wisara Road in Sangyoung Township and inspected production process of Dagon drinking water and beverages, quality control and storage of tins of juices. Then he called for meeting the production target and production of foodstuff in line with GMP system.

Later, the minister and party visited Win Thuza Shop (Sangyoung) and inspected sales of ceramics, medicines, clothing, steelware, household items, consumer products, electronic bicycles and motorcycles. Then the minister left necessary instructions.

NAY PYI TAW, 5 Jan-Minister for Construction Maj-Gen Saw Tun yesterday morning inspected construction of roads and bridges along Padan-Ngape Road in Magway Division.

Accompanied by officials of Public Works, the minister arrived at the bridge construction site on Minbu-Padan-An Road and gave instructions on completion of the tasks before the rainy season.

Next, the minister and party looked into the construction work and left instructions on timely completion of the work and meeting the set standards.

At the briefing hall of Padan-Betye road section on Pathein-Monywa Road , the minister heard reports presented by officials of PW and gave instructions on meeting the set standards as the road serves as a driving factor for regional development and fulfiled the requirements.

Information Minister attends opening of Pyinnya Alindan Self-reliant Library in Nyaungbintha Village , Nay Pyi Taw Pyinmana Townshi

NAY PYI TAW, 6 Jan-A ceremony to open a new building for Pyinnya Alindan Self-reliant Library in Nyaungbintha Village , Nay Pyi Taw Pyinmana Township was held at the pandal in front of the library this morning with an address by Minister for Information Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan.

Also present on the occasion were Head of Information Department of Myanmar Women's Affairs Federation Daw Kyi Kyi Win, heads of departments and enterprises under the Ministry of Information, chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Pyinmana District and Township Peace and Development Councils and members, social organizations and well-wishers, local people, members of the Self-reliant Library Committee and students numbering over 1200.

In his address, Minister for Information Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan said that for the nation to keep pace with changes and developments in terms of knowledge and technology in Knowledge Age, for rural people to extensively engage in agriculture and livestock breeding as the socio-economic life of the people can be improved through knowledge and technology and for the emergence of intellectuals, technocrats and knowledgeable persons capable of shaping the future democratic nation, a large number of self-reliant libraries have been opened in rural regions.

He went on to say that three new library buildings in Nay Pyi Taw Pyinmana Township and two new library buildings in Nay Pyi Taw Lewe Township were constructed with the contribution of K 6 million by Chairman of ACE Construction Co U Tint Hsan plus public contributions and they were fully facilitated with the contributions of local people from Nyaungbintha Village, Paywetseikkon Village and Pyankapyay Village in Nay Pyi Taw Pyinmana Township and Myeyolay Village and Hngetpyawtaw Village in Lewe Township.

The Ministry of Information has opened self-reliant libraries in rural regions since 2004, and of over 60,000 villages of the nation, 55,755 villages were equipped with libraries, he noted. It can be generally said that the number of libraries in the nation is sizable, and continued efforts are thus to be made for perpetual existence of the already opened libraries, he stressed.

In that regard, the five library development tasks have been laid down and are being implemented. They are: to inculcate people with a sense of the will to read, to educate them to be able to keep the already obtained publications for durability and to raise funds for libraries, to ensure the emergence of new library buildings in villages where there are no library, to completely equip libraries with facilities including furniture, and to strive for producing skilled librarians.

The local authorities are to strive together with social organizations, well-wishers and the Information and Public Relations Department for successful realization of the five library development tasks, he said.

In conclusion, the minister spoke of the need for officials concerned and local people to try their utmost for perpetual existence of libraries and thanked Chairman of ACE Construction Co U Tint Hsan who has contributed his shares for the emergence of new buildings for libraries.

Next, Chairman of ACE Construction Co U Tint Hsan explained the purpose of his contributions for the emergence of libraries.

After that, Minister Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan accepted donations including K 6 million by Chairman of ACE Construction Co U Tint Hsan, 755 copies of Magazines and 750 copies of journals by Head of Information Department of MWAF for five libraries, K 200,000 by U Aung Myint Tun-Daw Khin Aye Lwin of Yegyi Restaurant for Myeyolay Village Self-reliant Library, K 100,000 by U San Maung for Pyankapyay Village Self-reliant Library, K 100,000 by U Hlaing Soe, K 50,000 by U Maung Maung, K 30,000 each by U Toe Khin, U Tin Mya-Daw Thi and Daw Nyunt Nyunt, K 210,000 by social organizations, Ngwelamin Electronics and well-wishers, a set of colour TV by U Zaw Min Aung-Daw Tin Hlaing and family, a set of colour TV by U Thein Han and K 100,000 by U Than Swe and presented certificates of honour to the well-wishers.

Next, Director-General of Information and Public Relations Department U Chit Naing accepted the donations including K 30,000 by U Chan Tha of ACE Construction Co for 50 publications, K 10,000 each by U Thein Aung, U Pe, U Htay Maung, U Khin Maung and U Way Tha, K 95,000 by U Than Htway and K 80,000 by U Thein Shwe. And Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Pyinmana District PDC U Khin Maung Zaw accepted the donations including six radios and 1000 publications for five libraries and 500 copies of Shwe Naing Ngan Journal by Pyinmana District USDA and presented certificates of honour to the well-wishers.

Next, U Tint Hsan handed over the related documents to Head of Nay Pyi Taw Pyinmana District IPRD.

Next, Chairman of Nyaungbintha Village PDC U Tint Lwin presented the commemorative pennant to the minister and heads of department.

Director-General U Chit Naing, U Tint Hsan and Chairman U Tint Lwin formally opened the new library building.

After wards, the minister and party and guests viewed round the new building and cordially greeted those present on the occasion.

The new concrete building for Nyaungpintha Village is 27 feet long, 27 feet wide and 18 feet high. The new concrete building for Pyankapyay Village is 30 feet long, 20 feet wide and 12 feet high. The new concrete building for Paywetseikkon Village is 20 feet long, 18 feet wide and 10 feet high. The new concrete building for Myeyolay Village is 27 feet long, 20 feet wide and 10 feet high. The new concrete building for Ngapyawtaw Village is 24 feet long, 24 feet wide and 12 feet high.Today's donations amounted to K 14.55 million-13.19 million and library funds of K 1.36 million.

NAY PYI TAW, 6 Jan - Secretary-General of the Union Solidarity and Development Association Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen Htay Oo on 5 January paid homage to Sayadaw Bhaddanta Silaçara at Thiriyadana Ywale monastery in Kanyuatkwin, Bago Division and offered provisions to the Sayadaw.

The secretary-general met with USDA members and urged them to strive for the development of the region in cooperation with the local people.

Next, the secretary-general paid homage to Moegaung Pagoda and Sutaungpyae Pagodas in the monastery.

YANGON , 6 Jan - Organized by Myanmar Golf Federation, the opening ceremony of the first round of Grand Royal Special Reserve Qualify Round took place at Phan Khar Myay Golf Course yesterday.

The day-one competition was 18 holes.

After an 18-hole event, Than Naing Oo led the competition by nett total 69 strokes and the runners-up were Thein Shwe, Tin Lin Ko, Myat Thu, Zaw Win, Soe Moe Thwin and Soe Lwin Oo with nett total 70 strokes.

NAY PYI TAW, 6 Jan - To mark the 60th Anniversary Independence Day, staff families of the Ministry of Education held the fun fairs at the ministry on 4 January morning.

It was attended by Minister for Education Dr Chan Nyein, Deputy Minister U Myo Nyunt, the Directors-General and Chairmen of the departments and boards under the ministry.

A total of 47 wellwishers donated K 975,000 to officials. Responsible persons presented gifts to four blood donors who donated blood nine times from 2005 to 2007.

In addition, gifts were presented to 36 persons who donated blood three successive times in 2007.
