Myint Swe inspects tax-free markets

YANGON, 14 Feb - Lt-Gen Myint Swe of the Ministry of Defence
together with Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council
Commander Maj-Gen Hla Htay Win, Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee
Mayor Brig-Gen Aung Thein Lin, Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa and officials arrived at
Shukhintha tax-free market in Thakayta Township and inspected sales of goods
there this morning.
Upon arrival at tax-free markets in Dagon Myothit (South), Dagon
Myothit (North), Shwepyitha and Hlinethaya Townships, Lt-Gen Myint Swe and party
looked into sales of varieties of goods at the shops opened by Ministry of
Industry-1, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, YCDC and
regiments and units of Yangon Command, Poultry Farm, Ngwepinle Breeding and
Fisheries Company Ltd, District and Township PDCs and Myanmar Rice Dealers
Association. In addition, they inspected sales of kitchen crops, meat and fish,
vegetables, dairy products, groceries and personal goods.
During the inspections, Lt-Gen Myint Swe urged officials to
supervise sales of goods in accord with the purposes of opening tax-free markets
and left necessary instructions.

Eye
surgical equipment donated to

NAY PYI TAW, 14 Feb - The Vision Myanmar Project of AusAID of
Australia donated eye surgical equipment to
Dr James Muecke of AusAID explained the purpose of the donation
and presented eye surgical equipment. Deputy Director-General Dr Win Myint of
the Health Department accepted the donation and presented a certificate of
honour to the wellwishers.
Minister for Health Dr Kyaw Myint and guests viewed the eye
surgical equipment at the operation theatre of the hospital and comforted the
patients.
The donations of the Vision Myanmar Project were: Topcon
Operation Microscope, Silt Lump Bio Microscope, A-San & Keratometer and
Microsurgical Instrument.
Today, eye specialist Dr San San Nwe and eye surgeon Dr Yi Yi
Aung performed operations on 14 patients suffering from cataract.

NAY PYI TAW, 14 Feb - The State Peace and Development Council has
confirmed the appointment of Dr Tin Nyunt as Director-General of the Traditional
Medicine Department under the Ministry of Health on the expiry of the one-year
probationary period.
The State Peace and Development Council has appointed Deputy
Director-General U Wai Myint of the Civil Service Selection and Training
Department under the Civil Service Selection and Training Board as
Director-General of the same department on probation from the date he assumes
charge of his duties.

loses left foot in mine blast
NAY PYI TAW, 14 Feb - A man got injuries in a mine blast in
The incident happened when Maung Aung Htoo, 25, son of U Aung
San, dwelling in Kawpyin Village of Meetaingtaw Village-tract in

off his left foot with injuries on the left hand.
The injuried was rushed to Mone People's Hospital where necessary
treatments and help were given to him.
The authorities are in hot pursuit of the perpetrators.

preparing earth work with the use of heavy machinery, fencing and efforts for

Development Asso-ciation Deputy Minister for Transport Col Nyan Tun Aung looked
