Sept-A 14-member delegation led by Speaker of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw U Khin Aung
Myint arrived back here by air this evening after attending the 32nd ASEAN
Inter-Parliamentary Assembly held in Phnom Penh of Cambodia.
The Speaker and
party were welcomed back at Yangon International Airport by Deputy Speaker of
Pyidaungsu Hluttaw U Mya Nyein, Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Myint Swe,

Over 1100
old cars turned in to RTAD in Yangon Region so far
YANGON, 24 Sept
- Under the car-swap programme of the government, so far 1148 old cars have been
handed over to the Yangon Region Road Transport Administration Department,
altogether 2309 cars to 18 offices in region/state Road Transport Administration
Departments from 19 to 23 September.
During the
period, 416 cars have been retained by owners after being surrendered to the
Road Transport Administration Department under the Ministry of Rail
Transportation for temporary use.
Union Minister
for Rail Transportation U Aung Min, Deputy Minister U Thant Shin and Minister
for Yangon Region Road Administration U Aung Khin visited the Yangon Region RTAD
today and assisted owners of the old vehicles in turning the old cars in.

Minister for Mines U Thein Htaik addressed coordination meeting on assessment of
jade market, development of polished jade market, construction of jewellery
market for polished jades and polished jade factories at conference room of Mani
Yadana Jade Hall, here, yesterday afternoon.
The Union
minister called on gems merchants to strive for sustainable development of jade
market and jade polishing industries in Myanmar based on experiences they gained
in foreign jade markets.

Pyithu
Hluttaw Representatives observe plantations in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area
YANGON, 24 Sept
- Union Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation U Myint Hlaing conducted a 28-
member Pyithu Hluttaw excursion team led by Secretary of Pyithu Hluttaw
Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Development Committee Pyithu Hluttaw
representative of Patheingyi Constituency U Aung Thant, round thriving paddy and
sunflower plantations in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area today.
The team visited
40- acre high yield plantation near Chaing village in Dekkhinathiri Township
where the Union Minister explained that output of 100 baskets per acre has won
credibility of farmers and the farmers are bound to share their knowledge each
other in States and Regions.
Next, the team
viewed thriving 20-day old 20-hecter paddy plantation.
Then they
observed a 20-hecter plot which was systematically reclaimed on a 50-acre
farmland with the use of farm equipment near Aung Thukha village in the
township, 55-day old 10-acre paddy plantation where more than 10 shoots are
grown on a paddy plant near Aung Thukha village in Kyarpin village-tract, 10-
acre model farmland in Zeyathiri Township and ripening sunflower plantation of
Agricultural Research Farm in Tatkon Township.
Sagaing
Region Chief Minister assists in regional development tasks

Sept - Chief Minister of Sagaing Region U Tha Aye assisted in repaving of a road
section on the Monywa-Ayadaw Road and construction of the iron reinforced bridge
on the Sagaing-Shwebo Road on 22 September.
Afterwards, the
chief minister attended a ceremony to hand over a building to the Basic
Education Primary School in Taungtin Village in Shwebo Township.
In the
afternoon, the chief minister also attended a ceremony to disburse agricultural
loans and to distribute inputs to farmers by a private company in Shwebo.
The chairman and
the managing director of Zeyar Theinkha Rice Trading Company presented K 200
million to representatives of farmers.
After the
ceremony, the chief minister also met with sugarcane farmers and inspected
Theinyin Reservoir in Kanbalu Township.
Flood
victims provided with relief aids in Toungoo

Sept-Chief Minister of Bago Region U Nyan Win comforted the flood victims in
Toungoo District, distributing relief aids to them on 20 September.
First, he met
the flood victims sheltering at No. 6 Basic Education High School and presented
relief aids to them. He also encouraged the flood victims of Kachaung
Village-tract and Pauktaw Village during his tour.
There are a
total of 1014 flood victims of 235 households at No. 6 BEHS relief camp, 397 of
90 households at Mingalar Zayde Monastery in Kachaung Village, 313 of 81
households at Sakar Monastery in Pauktaw Village, and 363 of 100 households at
No. 5 BEHS in Toungoo District.
The flood
victims received a total of 1500 bags of rice, 6000 viss of potato, onion and
gram, and 222 viss of oil donated by Sky Net TV channel and Shwe FM radio.

Minister meets Japanese Member of House of Representatives

Repre-sentatives of Japan Mr. Kozo Yamamoto and party at his office, here,

discussions on cooperation in mining industry.

Sept-ERIA CLMV Seminar in FY 2011 on the Issues and Prospects in Post- AEC,
jointly organized by Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development and
Indonesia-based Economic Research Institute of ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), was
opened at Myanmar International Convention Centre, here, yesterday.
The opening
session was attended by Deputy Minister for National Planning and Economic
Development Dr Kan Zaw, Senior Economic Expert of Asian Development Bank Mr
Jayant Menon, Senior Researcher of ERIA Mr Ponciano S Intal Jr, Researcher
Associate Professor Mr Koji Kubo of International Development Economic, Chairman
of Bangkok Research Centre and Japan Foreign Trade Board Mr Mitsuhiro Kagami,
Professor Mr Mitsuhiro Kagami of Teikyo University, representatives from
ministries/ departments, scholars and Representative from the Republic of the
Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and guests.
The deputy
minister gave an opening speech and seven local and foreign resource persons
read out papers which focused on preparations ahead of ASEAN Economic Community
and ASEAN Free Trade Area which will emerge in 2015, combination of trade and
investment, financial development, experiences and prospects of Asian countries,
GMS countries, ASEAN countries and Myanmar regarding small and medium
enterprises development.
The similar
seminars have been held for five times as of 2008. The seminar is being attended
by 150 attendees, totaling the number of attendees of the seminars to 400.
Inter-Basic
Education School Sports Competitions kick off in Magway Region

Jointly organized by the Sports and Physical Education Department and Department
of Basic Education in Magway Region, the Inter-Basic Education School Sports
Competitions of Magway Region for 2011-2012 academic year was opened at Magway
District sports ground this morning.
The sports
competitions comprise U-13 and U-16 boys and girls football events, U-16 men’s
and women’s volleyball events, basketball and track and field events, U-16
men’s Sepak Takraw event, U- 16 men's and women's table tennis events.

Basic
Management Skill Course of Ministry of Electric Power No. 2 concludes

Sept-The Basic Management Skill Course No. 2/2011 concluded at the Ministry of
Electric Power No. 2, here, yesterday morning, with an address by Deputy
Minister for Electric Power No. 2 U Aung Than Oo.
The deputy
minister awarded outstanding trainees including first prize winner Daw Nwe Nwe
Soe, and the director-general presented completion certificates to the leader of
the trainees.
Altogether 32
trainees from departments under the ministry took two-week course.
Deputy
Minister oversees construction sites

Sept- Deputy Minister for Construction U Soe Tint inspected renovation of SEAMEO
Regional Centre for History and Tradition (Thiri Hall) in the campus of Yangon
University in Yangon yesterday.
Then, he met
staff members at the meeting hall of senior engineer’s office in Yangon West
District Public Works. He viewed construction of four-storey staff quarters of
Central Medical Store Depot under the Ministry of Health in Dagon Township.
The deputy
minister gave instructions on timely completion of the construction tasks,
better works in finishing tasks and systematic works for water, light and septic
system.
