Prime Minister inspects No 5 farm machinery factory (Ywathagyi)

YANGON, 23 Jan — Prime Minister General Soe Win inspected No 5 Farm Machinery Factory (Ywathagyi) of Agricultural Mechanization Department this afternoon.
Prime Minister General Soe Win, Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Lt-Gen Myint Swe, the mi-nisters, the Yangon mayor and officials heard reports on No 5 Farm Machinery Factory (Ywathagyi).

Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen Htay Oo reported on the factory. He said the factory is situated on 47.25 acres of land on No 2 Highway in Dagon Myothit (East) Township. There are eight workshops which produce farm implements. Myanma Farm Machinery Factory (Ingon) was established in Kyaukse Township for development of agro-based industry in upper Myanmar and production of power tillers and farm machinery. The Ywathagyi factory was set up for agricultural development in lower Myanmar, he said.

Director-General of Agricultural Mechanization Department U Win Maw reported on guidance of the Head of State, production of Leya-16 po-wer tillers for satisfaction of the farmers under his guidance, efforts for farming mechanization, recycling of waste materials, production of power tillers for highland cultivation and test run, operation of farm machinery with the use of physic nut oil and arrangements for transporting of machinery from other factories to the No 5 factory.

The Prime Minister gave instructions on transporting materials and saving of expenditure in construction of No 5 farm machinery factory (Ywathagyi) in lower Myanmar.

Next, the Prime Minister and party inspected production of gear blanks, shaft blanks for Leya-16 power tillers at the forging shop, production of shafts and assembling of four-wheel tractors at the machine shop 1 and running of the heat treatment shop and press shop.

They also inspected production process at the foundry shop-2 and other farm equipment and machine shop-2. Officials demonstrated running of power tillers with physic nut oil.

Myanma Farm Machinery Factory (Ingon) is producing Leya-16 power tillers and farm equipment for farmers of the upper Myanmar. Likewise, for farmers of the lower Myanmar, No 5 Farm Machinery Factory (Ywathagyi) will be upgraded into Myanma Farm Machinery Factory (Ywathagyi).

Afterwards, the Prime Minister and party proceeded to Ywathagyi Railway Station where they were briefed on running of new railway coaches by Minister for Rail Transportation Maj-Gen Aung Min.

After inspecting measures taken for greening of the environs of the station and the coaches, the Prime Minister gave necessary instructions to officials. On arrival at Dagon University, Minister Maj-Gen Aung Min reported to the Prime Minister on extended running of local trains for the convenience of passengers including students of Yangon University of Economics, Dagon University and Yangon Computer University.

Later, the Prime Minister gave instructions on upgrading of motor roads leading to the station.
