Myanma Timber Enterprise (MTE) is the trading arm of the Ministry of Forestry that is responsible for extracting, milling and marketing (domestic and export) of teak and non-teak hardwoods.   • SAWN TEAK

    • Sawn teak is available according to the ruling prices at the time of making enquiries. Enquiries can be sent to General Manager (Export) and they will be considered according to availability, committed balance, etc., and offers will be made accordingly. Current price list can be purchased at MTE. It should be studied before placing orders. We shall not be responsible for your commitments entered into without our prior agreement. Buyers are required to make a deposit (or a bank guarantee) for 25% of the value of the cargo or US $ 5000 whichever is more. Please note the following in placing enquiries to avoid unnecessary delays due to different modes of doing business.

    (a) The imperial system (inches and feet) is used in measuring sizes. The metric system (mm's and em's) is not   used and can be misunderstood unless the imperial equivalent is also stated.

    (b)  Teak squares measure l0"& up x 10" & up x l0' & up. Prices are quoted on the averagecubic feet of a parcel. A lot or parcel measures roughly from 10 to 25 cubic tons. One cubic ton equals 1.4 cubic metres. (N.B. Hoppus.ton is not used for sawn timber.)

    (c) Teak posts measure 6"/9", x 6"/9", x 6'&up.

    (d) Teak boards are ½ " to 2" in width x 6"& up avg.8" x 6'&up avg.8'.

    (e) Teak planks are 2"&up avg.3 ½ " and thicker x 6" & up avg. 8"  and wider x 6' & up avg. 8' and longer

    (f)  Teak scantlings  measure ½ " to 5"  in thickness; 1" to 6" in width; and 6'&up avg.8'  in length.
     

  • TEAK LOGS AND HARDWOOD LOGS

    • All logs are sold by tender. Therefore, those wishing to buy teak and hardwood logs are advised to look up the announcements in the daily newspapers. Prices are per  Hoppus ton FOB or 1.8 cubic metres FOB.
     
  • HARD WOOD CONVERSIONS

    • Harclwood conversions are also generally sold by tender, together with teak and hardwood. logs.

    • MTE practices the Normal Sale Contract System for Wood-Based Products, such as Teak Garden Furniture, Teak Flooring P.T.G (Parquet Tongued & Grooved), Teak Lam-parquet, Teak Molding, Teak Skirting, Taung Thayet (Swintonia Floribunda Griff) Panel Door & Furniture.
