Myanma Automobile and Diesel Engine Industries (MADI) is an enterprise specializing in the production of light and heavy motor vehicles, component parts and accessories and multipurpose diesel engines. The factories under MADI are

 

 

    *    No. (1) Automobile Factory (Yangon)

    *    No. (2) Automobile Factory (Htonbo)

    *    No. (3) Automobile factory (Htaukkyant - Project Stage)

    *    Heavy Diesel Engine Factory (Inndagaw - Project Stage)

 

Functions

The Functions of MADI are the same as those mentioned under MAMI except that MADI is now responsible for the implementation of the projects at Htaukkyant (Yangon) and Inndagaw.

 

Organization

The head of MADI is the Managing Director assisted by the Directors. The three factories are managed by respective General Managers.

Range of Products

The production at No. (1) Automobile Factory (Yangon) started in 1973 under technical cooperation with Mazda Motor Corporation of Japan and in 1962 the production of Hino buses and trucks began with the technical cooperation of Hino Motor Co., Ltd., of Japan.

Industrial Training School (Mandalay)

Under the Myanma Automobile and Diesel Engine Industries there is an industrial training school (ITS) in Mandalay. The industrial training school was established in February 2000 to train skilled workers needed by the factories in the Upper Myanmar Industrial Zones. It has conducted short term three months training courses both for workers from Mandalay Industrial Zone and the other zones in Upper Myanmar. The training courses cover welding, foundry and machine operation and auto mechanic fields.

 


 

Joint Venture

Myanmar Suzuki Motor Co., Ltd., is a joint venture between MADI and Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan. The products are :
