Myanma Agricultural Machinery Industries

(MAMI)

Myanma Agricultural Machinery Industries plays an important role as it is responsible for the production of agricultural machineries and equipment which are now essential for the development of mechanized agriculture.

No. (1) and No. (2) Agricultural Machinery Factories (AMF), under the Myanma Agricultural Machinery Industries manufacture tractors, hand power tillers, water pumps and agricultural machineries and equipment and several other items.

Functions

The functions of Myanma Agricultural Machinery Industries are :-

to control and supervise the productions at No. (1) and No. (2) Agricultural Machinery Factories.
to oversee that the products of these factories are of high quality standard acceptable to the consumers.
to undertake the marketing and distribution of the products in competition with both the imported and locally produced similar products.
to arrange for the proper utilization of both local budget and foreign exchange allotments.
to procure imported raw materials and component parts.
to draw up annual production plans and to monitor the productions so that the production targets are achieved.
to negotiate with foreign firms and organizations in cases involving the plans for setting up new industries.

Organization

The head of MAMI is the Managing Director assisted by the Directors. The two factories are managed by respective General Managers.

Industrial Training Centre (Sinde)

Under the Myanma Agricultural Machinery Industries the Industrial Training Centre (Sinde) is located about 272 km from Yangon. It was established in 1977 with the assistance of Federal Republic of Germany.

Although the training courses at the ITC lasted 3 years, the training period had now been compressed into 2 years in order to supply more skilled workers to meet the needs of industrial development. There are eight courses for training 200 number of trainees per year. These training courses are designed as Dual Training System as practiced in Germany. The students are being given practical training in the factories under the Ministry of Industry (2) near the ITC.
