Myanmar is now becoming the leading country which exports caneware to all around the world. Over 30 Myanmar companies are exporting to over 30 countries, majority to Europe. Since 1995, the export of caneware reaches 3 to 4 millions US$ every year.

The firms in the Myanmar caneware industry are generally derived from family small cottage business. Still, the products are produced by traditional style of manufacturing, only small numbers of local made machines can be found in this caneware industry. As Myanmar has plenty of lands, favorable climate & good soils, and cheap & skilled labor, which are the basic requirements for the caneware industry, there is a prospect for foreign investment. By providing capital resources and necessary facilities, the standard of Myanmar cane products will be higher and they will gain more competitive edge in the foreign markets.
