Labour Minister receives Executive Director of ILO
NAY PYI TAW, 26 Feb — Minister for Labour U Aung Kyi received Executive
Director Dr Kari Tapiola and party of International Labour Organization (ILO)
at his office, here, this morning.
They discussed the activities for continuous cooperation between
the government of the Union of Myanmar and the ILO.
The ILO officials also called on the Working Group for Prevention
Against Forced Labour led by Deputy Minister for Labour Brig-Gen Tin Tun Aung
at the Ministry of Labour, here.
They discussed implementation
of the Order No 1/99 and the Order Supplementing Order No 1/99 issued by the
Ministry of Home Affairs not to practice requisition of forced labour and the
Directive issued by the State Peace and Development Council on 1 November 2000
for prohibiting the requisition of forced labour. In addition, they reviewed
progress in implementing the supplementary agreement signed by
Myanmar
and the ILO on 26 February 2007. As
Myanmar
has pledged to eradicate the activities of forced labour, it was agreed to
extend the supplementary understanding for another one year.
