Senior General Than Shwe, wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing see off Vice-Senior General Maung Aye, wife Daw Mya Mya San on departure for Russian Federation on official visit

NAYPYIDAW, 2 April — Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Maung Aye and wife Daw Mya Mya San left Naypyidaw Airport in Naypyidaw City by special aircraft at 8.20 am today to pay an official visit to the Russian Federation at the invitation of Mr Mikhail Fradkov, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

The delegation led by Vice-Senior General Maung Aye and wife were seen off at the airport by Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Than Shwe and wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing, member of the State Peace and Development Council General Thura Shwe Mann of the Ministry of Defence and wife Daw Khin Lay Thet, Prime Minister General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, members of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Ye Myint, Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than, Lt-Gen Maung Bo and Chief of Armed Forces Training Lt-Gen Aung Htwe of the Ministry of Defence and their wives, the ministers, and officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office.

Vice-Senior General Maung Aye and wife are accompanied by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Thein Sein and wife Daw Khin Khin Win, members of the State Peace and Development Council Quartermaster-General Lt-Gen Thiha Thura Tin Aung Myint Oo and wife Daw Khin Saw Hnin and Lt-Gen Tin Aye of the Ministry of Defence, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Vice-Admiral Soe Thein, Commander-in-Chief (Air) Lt-Gen Myat Hein, Minister for National Planning and Economic Development U Soe Tha, Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Tin Naing Thein, Minister for Foreign Affairs U Nyan Win and wife Daw Myint Myint Soe, Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Brig-Gen Maung Maung Thein, Minister for Energy Brig-Gen Lun Thi, Minister for Science and Technology U Thaung, senior military officers of the Ministry of Defence and departmental heads.
